Resolved I keep getting invalid token messages on frontend and backend

When a user or admin supplies valid login credentials a lot of time we get a blank page that says "Invalid Token" with the url:

http://www.mysite.com/index.php/my-profile?task=user.login

the login actually happens but my users don't know they can edit the URL in the address bar to:

http://www.mysite.com

to get it to work...
