I'm thinking of getting the pro version of Easy Profile. We have a Constant Contact list I want to import as users. But the question is this: if we import them, they won't have passwords or user names for that matter. is there anything we can do to smooth the process?

we could email those on that list and ask them to sign in for the first time, creating that info, but would Easy Profile make that possible? I'm just trying to get my head around it. I'm open to options, but I'm just trying to think of what we can do.

add this code to file /plugins/jsn/userimport/userimport.php at line 255
$passwordClear=JUserHelper::genRandomPassword();

$salt=JUserHelper::getSalt();

$importUser['password']=JUserHelper::getCryptedPassword($passwordClear,$salt);

JFactory::getMailer()->sendMail(

   '[email protected]',	// Sender Mail

   'Your Name',	// Sender Name

   $importUser['email'],	// Receiver Mail

   'New Account',	// Subject Mail

   "You account details:\n\nUsername: ".$importUser['username']."\nPassword: ".$passwordClear	// Body Mail

With this code when you register a new user the password is generated and the system send a mail to new user with details.
You must personalize Sender Mail and Sender Name.
You must declare column for password (will be ignored) example:
password;username;email;firstname;lastname
empty;User1;[email protected];John;Doe
empty;User2;[email protected];Mark;White

Try it before use in production site
