sorry this is not possible. but this is interesting thing, we will add on our todo list.

we can't add this feature in next release because it is ready (last testing before release). But in future we will do.

in recents Joomla versions, the support of "maxlength" attribute is native. So, we can confirm that in next release (some days to release) we will add this ;)

Hi,
this is not possible, in the next release we will try add the parameter to do this.

Why missing this parameter?
- old Joomla API not support placeholder in textarea field type
- when you enable some HTML editor placeholder not works
- old browsers not support placeholder on textarea HTML input
