When a user updates his profile and clicks save, the site gives a 404 error with an URL similar to this:

https://endgyncancer.com/index.php/user-profile/tony@maciah.com.html

If I delete this part: "[email protected]" (email + html) and reload the page, it saves the changes.

Any ideas?

Hi,
you have some wrong configuration of your web server, in Joomla should works link with or without .html at the end.

for example for link https://www.endgyncancer.com/index.php/about/how-it-works should work also https://www.endgyncancer.com/index.php/about/how-it-works.html (but this not work).

Easy Profile add .html at the end because in your username there is .com (.com is not a valid extension for web page in most environment).

Now we have commented line 63 on file /components/com_jsn/router.php to not add .html at the end.

NOTE: with this sever configuration problem you can't use option "Adds Suffix to URL" in Joomla Configuration.

Hi,
sorry for late reply.

Problem 1.
Joomla have a strange routing with some configuration, this problem happen if you have menu item of type User Manager->Regitration and not have menu item of type User Manager->Edit profile.
To solve this try to set menu item of type Regitration with "Guest" access

Problem 2.
Try to check:
- Menu item of type Easy Profile->User Profile exist
- Menu item of type Easy Profile->Social Network exist
Otherwise please send me your site details, we will check your site (you can use the form below the reply in "Site Details" tab)

Hi Doug,

in this topic there are 2 different problems, you can specify what you mean?

Problem 404 is due to some server configuration. so we do not plan to make any fix.

Hi,
I know this, but the problem is not "Edit Profile" button.

I try to explain you the problem:

Edit profile button create link with this function:
JRoute::_( 'index.php?option=com_users&view=profile&layout=edit' )
for some strange reason joomla turns this into Registration form index.php?option=com_users&view=registration&layout=edit , change view parameter

When this happen?
this happen when you have menu item of type "Users Manager->Registration Form" and you not have menu item of type "Users Manager->Edit Profile" or "Users Manager->User Profile"

why it happens?
I think because Joomla try to search a menu item with option=com_users, since there is only the registration form menu item (for com_users component) it directs on this.

Basic link - /index.php/profile/profile?layout=edit
In this case works because the path "profile/profile" is of type "Users Manager->User Profile" (com_users)

Workarounds:
1. Set Registration form's Access Level on "Guest" - with this Joomla can't turns edit profile page on registration menu item id because it is not available for already registered users

2. Create also menu item of type "Users Manager->Edit Profile" or "Users Manager->User Profile" - with this the translation of SEF links becomes correct

I have done as you directed and it works.
For clean setup and coding
I just wonder why everything works with the basic version but it requires the work around in the pro version.

I think because you had a menu item you type "Users Manager->Edit Profile" or "Users Manager->User Profile".

Anyway, set Registration menu item only for "Guest" users is a good practice, also we will investigate more on this issue ;)
