Resolved Can we remove Mootools JS library safely

Hi,

We use Joomla 3.0 and it still ships with the Mootools javascript library, yet it has been depreciated in this version of Joomla since they are transitioning to jquery.

Because of a conflict with another joomla extension we have removed the mootools javascript library from our website and your easy profile component seems to work fine. I'm going to guess it uses the jquery library.

But, just to make sure we wanted to reach out and ask if you know if the easy profile component, modules, or plugins use any of the mootools library or if you are aware of any problems we have not seen by removing the mootools javascript library.

I guess the big question is, do you use the mootools javascript library in the easy profile component, modules, or plugins?

Hi,
Easy Profile extends Joomla user profile, so registration and edit profile pages are the same of Joomla (it not replace like CB or Jomsocial to adds custom fields), tabs are generated by using a javascript code.

Easy Profile not load Mootools library, but there is an exception: "Password Strengthmeter" (see screenshot) is not developed by us, this is a Joomla hidden feature of Joomla Password field type, Easy Profile enable this feature. "Password Strengthmeter" feature is not yet ready for jQuery and use still Mootools framework. Anyway, you can disable this feature from Easy Profile Options (set parameter Components->Easy Profile->Options->Password Strengthmeter to No).

With Easy Profile you will use same Forms of Joomla, so you can also use all users plugins from third-party developers, if you have some other users plugin then you check that these not call Mootools library.
