I need to automate a multi step task too particular to describe here.

A custom script will make changes to he MySQL database. I have found the jsn_fields database, but cannot find where the "Custom Format" is in the table? Perhaps it is somewhere else? Can you tell me where this is stored so I can change it with the script?

Hi,
ok, now I have understand :D

You can find this parameter into "params" column, this column contains various parameters in Joomla Registry format (simply JSON).
Custom Format parameter is called "text_customregex"

Sorry for the lack of clarity. Custom format is on the edit field page. See attached screenshot. In the JSN_Fields table, where does this data get put?

Hi,
sorry for late replay, it was night for us.

in jsn_fields there is a column called type that contains the type of field. The SQL format of column(s) is taken from files located into /administrator/com_jsn/helpers/fields/fieldtype.php

I hope this answers your question because I did not understand what you mean by "Custom Format".
