Resolved default value' and 'placeholder' fields

I fill in 'default value' and 'placeholder' in 'options select field' but these entries do not show in the front end profile. What are these options for? How do they work? Thanks.

Hi,
default value works only during registration because an empty value is still a value, so the system does not fill it with a default value.

placeholder in select fields works only when is disable multiple options parameter, basically this change the text for empty value, see screenshot
