I have some questions about ways to search for Member addresses (set up for the Map module, as google_maps type).

1. Is there a way to add instructions about searching for an address? It's not easily apparent to a user that searching "address" means that they are searching for users adjacency to themselves.

2. How do I change the radius options? I would like to make smaller numbers as my members are concentrated primarily in one city with a max radius of only 100 miles.

3. Is there a general way to search for an address, that isn't related to my own user location? For example, if a user wants to find other members near to a certain park or movie theater so they can be invited to an event, how can they do this?

Thanks for your help!

Hi,
sorry but the code that generates the radius options is not on template view, so you can't override this.

Great, thanks!

Should I create an override for the new radius options, and where in templates/mytemplate/html/com_jsn should I put it? Thanks!

Hi, Yes to all but is required some PHP knowledge.

1) You can edit the file /administrator/components/com_jsn/models/fields/gmap.php.
add this function to JFormFieldGmap Class
public function getInput()
{

$output=parent::getInput();
$output.='Description';
return $output;
}

2) You can edit the file /administrator/components/com_jsn/helpers/fields/gmap.php from line 194 to line 203

3) Sorry but I not understand, you already can search users in a radius from an address.
