I noticed that there were postings and questions about activity streams since 2014. Has there been any progress on that yet this year?

I think yes (I do not know exactly what you mean), we have released many many versions since 2014. Anyway older questions are about beta releases; first stable version was released 8 months ago.

sorry for late reply, it was night for us.

Easy Profile is mainly a profiler extension (not social network). With Pro version you can download and install "Social Network Plugin" (you will find this in download section), this plugin allows you to turn Easy Profile into a Social Network.
