**Resposted previous question with subscribed account as requested. **

I'm testing 1.3.10 on Joomla 3.4.1.

I have a series of custom fields including 1 mandatory checkbox. When I submit the profile without a checkbox selected there is no frontend validation to prevent the submit, additionally when the submit is correctly rejected by the server all of the edits to the rest of the fields are lost.

I assume this is a bug and not designed behaviour.

That's interesting, and not ideal behaviour however the patch to stop form submission when data is invalid covers this design flaw.

Hi,
fix at https://www.easy-profile.com/support/inconsistent-behvaiour-of-select-box-validation-fail.html solve this problem.

Easy Profile extends Joomla user management (registration and edit profile pages are the same of Joomla*), then autofill of fields is managed by Joomla, I think works so**:
- on registration it keep all filled input (except password field)
- on edit profile with preloaded data it not keep nothing, perhaps to prevent misunderstanding between the actual data and the new data.

* Custom fields are added with our user plugin and tabs are generated by a Javascript.
** this is just a guess
