hello,
i have a website running easy profile and i need to change the ui representation for a birthday date field.
When the site was set up i decided to use the default date picker style to select the year/day/month with a mouse.
I would like to change this to a very simple field where the user enters his dob manually as text/numbers.
How can this be done without changing the current database content?
The field should still hold the values as DATE type in the Database.

Hi,
if you change the type from Database, basically the field will be managed like textfield, so it will change automatically.

Hello,

thank you for the answer,
what will happen if i change the database field manually?
will the UI representation in the forms change to a textfield automatically or do i have to make adjustments there as well?

Hi and sorry for late reply.

Unfortunately this is not possible natively.
To do this you need to change field type from database with a tool like PhpMyAdmin (normally provided by all hosting companies): in the table #__jsn_fields these is the list of fields, you need to change in the field row the column called "type" from "date" to "text".

Note: the field need to allow only format like "YYYY-MM-DD" (this is SQL format). Therefore you need to limit values by using "Format Allowed" parameter and the correct regex expression
