Hello, we're strongly considering easy profile because it looks awesome! However, we are migrating to Joomla and have about 2,000 users to import. Does EP offer any type of import function?

Hi,
sorry for late reply,
Is there somethig new regarding user groups?
No sorry, when user is added with import plugin go on "Registered" group. This group is set on Users->User manager->Options. You can change this to add the new users in another groups, So you can import various CSV file for each group.

Or it is at least possible to filter in "users" part of joomla based on custom values that I have created in Easy profile?
No sorry, Easy Profile extend Joomla user management, not replace like CB or JomSocial. So to do this we need to write some tools. We will add this on our TODO list

Thanks for your tests,
We will implement this feature.
Now, if you want import user with different user group you can do (example):
- create groups Student and Teacher
- go to administration->users->user manager->option and set New User Registration Group parameter to Student
- Import a list with Students
- go to administration->users->user manager->option and set New User Registration Group parameter to Teacher
- Import a list with Teachers

Good News!
we have developer a import plugin.
- Install plugin
- Go to extensions plugin and search 'user import'
- Go to plugin and set access and enable it
- Go on your-site/index.php?option=com_jsn&view=import

Notes
- This is a alpha version
- When user existing and you choose to override information, the username and password are not changed.
- A field should never miss: email, and name or firstname
- Import only from CSV
- The first row of CSV file determines the columns (alias of field)

Examples Of CSV
username;mail;password;firstname;lastname
john;[email protected];passwordofjohn;John;Doe
mark;[email protected];passwordofmark;Mark;White

mail;password;firstname;lastname;gender
[email protected];passwordofjohn;John;Doe;male
[email protected];passwordofmark;Mark;White;male

mail;password;name;gender
[email protected];passwordofjohn;John Doe;male
[email protected];passwordofmark;Mark White;male

Please report in this topic any issue.

Next week we will try to develop a script to import users from a CSV file. It will be a very simple thing.
You do not have to buy anything, we'll post it on the forums.

In the future we will produce a plugin (for the pro/basic version ) that does this. But for this I can not give a timeline.

Hi,
Sorry for late reply, but it's a weekend for us.

Sorry, but easy profile not have this feature.
For import user into DB you need to write a php script.

curiosity: what format you want to import?

No, sync button only create row in Easy Profile user-table with prefilled name, last name and solves some PHP warning (it happens in a few cases) in Joomla User Managment on the first installation of Easy Profile.

"user plugin (xml files)" mean /plugins/user/profile/profiles/profile.xml?

You can use User Profile Plugin with Easy Profile.

Ok, so as a follow up... we've managed to import some text users with two custom fields which we added in the user plugin (xml files). If we install EP and 'sync' the users, will EP recognize those fields?
