I use a field of type "file" to upload PDF file.
EP does rename the file. EP uses the name of the database field plus lots of numbers and letters (please see screenshot).
This renaming is very confusing for users, because their original filename is lost. Many users then delete the file because they think something went wrong (maybe even a virus did something here...!).
It would be better to keep original file name. So EP should create a directory for each user and save the file there. Or at least rename the file to something like this:
Original file name: document01.pdf
EP rename: document01_3f6x2c7b75rxct2w.pdf
