Hi-

We have an issue where some of our users use the same email address (we are using Easy Profile to track our membership and some couples use the same email address). For the back end I am using the plugin user_same_email, but this does not work for the front end. Therefore, I have turned off the requirement that the email address be unique in profile.xml and useremail.php, but obviously whenever I update Easy Profile, I will have to remember to redo this. Is there any way you can make this a choice for the admin as to whether the email address needs to be unique if username only is used for login?

Thanks.

Hi,
sorry but user_same_email is very dangerous for Joomla, because it replace a Joomla core Class with older version.

This plugin is designed for Joomla 2.5 and the last update was released 2 years ago.

Easy Profile extends Joomla User managment, not replace, Joomla require unique email address.

If you have PHP knowledge, the code to check email duplication is into /libraries/joomla/table/user.php from line 236 to line 250, we have not tried to remove this code but just try to help to put you in the right direction.

Hi,
the problem is that Joomla not allow this, we have decided to not replace(override) the code of Joomla because could create problems of compatibility with future versions of Joomla and also could create security problems.

I do not know what you mean by this, but that is okay. I figured out how to allow for non-unique email addresses, so no worries. Joomla just makes an assumption that is incorrect about users. They do not think about private membership uses.
